This year got off to a flying start with the signing of a new US$750,000 contract with The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC). The state owned company is a new client for Amor Group and they’ve signed us up to design and install a gas management system for the Caribbean’s Cross Island Pipeline.

“We already have customers in Trinidad and Tobago and are pleased to be adding NGC to our customer base. This is an exciting time for us to be extending our current projects in Trinidad and Tobago amid major investment in the energy sector.”Robert McSaveney, Solutions Director (Energy), Amor Group
The Cross Island Pipeline is part of NGC’s ongoing thrust to position the country as a key player in the global natural gas industry, and the project will see Amor Group provide the organisation with a sophisticated gas management system based on its RT-HAS hydrocarbon accounting solution.
In order to maintain accurate records and in anticipation of NGC’s expected 2010 growth, the organisation decided to replace their existing manual spreadsheet solution to fulfil their need for additional system flexibility. With Amor Group’s RT-HAS solution NGC will now be able to accurately mange their hydrocarbon production, planning and reporting both efficiently and effectively.

Forecasting Operations at Norway’s Largest Airport
Oslo Airport Gardermoen, Norway’s largest international airport, has gone live with a new forecasting solution provided by Amor Group.
FirstPlanIT is a cutting edge Amor Group transport solution that uses key information including current and historical flight schedules, actual passenger numbers from security metal detectors, national holidays, religious festivals and passenger trends to provide accurate forecasts for every 15 minutes of the operational day.
As well as reducing operational costs through a more efficient balance of staff and resources to satisfy demand, FirstPlanIT helps to reduce congestion and improve the flow of passengers through the airport resulting in increased customer satisfaction.
Lars Aasvestad, Project Leader from Oslo Airport, said: “We were due to replace our existing forecasting system and were impressed by the capabilities of Amor Group’s FirstPlanIT, which came with positive recommendations from other airports. “We needed a robust system to allow us to make the most efficient use of our staffing resources”
“It was also important for us to be able to adjust the system to fit our individual needs and we have found that FirstPlanIT is extremely flexible as well as accurate and fast.”

Airport Check-in Made Easy

Checking in at the airport, as any family or frequent flier will testify, can be a frustrating and unnecessarily time consuming process but not for the tens of thousands of Austrian Airlines and bmi passengers who already enjoy a hassle free check-in with the use of our revolutionary FirstPass solution.
FirstPass uses our unique animated barcode technology to deliver airline boarding passes direct to passenger’s mobile handsets. Managing passenger check-in at the airport is costly, time consuming and space constrained. And with flight usage set to rise, airlines need to increase the amount of ‘off airport’ check-in, maximise bag drop and allow passengers to proceed directly to the gate as quickly and easily as possible. FirstPass helps them do exactly that.
Looking at how Apple revolutionised the way we buy and listen to music, the ease and simplicity of use of FirstPass is surely set to alter check-in for the technology savvy and fast paced 21st century traveller.

We are continuing to lead boarding pass innovation with the launch of our secure platform to meet the requirements set out by the American Transportation Security Administration. FirstPass can now manage all barcoded boarding pass digital signatures and key pairs on behalf of the airline to allow rapid and simplified implementation and rollout
FirstPass also supports the emerging NFC (Near Field Communications) technology for ‘touch and go’ boarding with mobile phones, providing a future-proof solution for the airlines.

New Managed Services and Outsourced IT Support
Amor Group has launched its new Managed Services and Outsourced IT Support for non-hub airports. The smaller non-hub airports are at a distinct disadvantage as they are expected to support and maintain a complex IT environment to support all the operational needs of an airport and its customers, the airlines, ground handlers and passengers themselves.
Staff and resources are stretched, resulting in a culture of fire-fighting, leaving little time to tackle the strategic requirements and management.
Based on our experiences gained in managing IT functions in other highly complex markets such as Air Traffic Control and Oil & Gas, Amor Group’s airport IT managed service has been designed specifically for airports to ensure that IT is a value-adding service that contributes significantly to the smooth operation of the airport.
Amor Group Scores Place on Learning and Skills Council Framework
Amor Group’s Public Sector practice has secured a place on a new framework which is set to bring in significant revenue from the education sector.
We beat off strong competition from a number of companies to be one of just three suppliers chosen for the Solutions Development category by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for its Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF) programme.
The QCF is a new framework for recognising and accrediting qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and it is at the centre of a major reform of the vocational qualification system designed to make the whole system simpler to understand and easier to use.
This new appointment presents an outstanding opportunity for the Public Sector Practice over the next few years and comes hot on the heels of a new professional services contract totalling £3.5 million secured with Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. The contract was awarded via the Buying Solutions UK public sector national procurement framework and we beat off strong competition from a number of companies in order to win the business.
These recent deals demonstrate Amor Group’s growing Public Sector expertise which has been proven with the continuing working partnership we have established with the Welsh and Scottish education departments.
Coventry Here We Come
The LSC appointment and Ofqual win, coincide with the opening of a new Amor Group office in Coventry University Technology Park, which will manage work for some of the company’s largest public sector clients, many of which are based around the Coventry area.
This operation is headed up by David Morgan, the Account Director for Strategic Public Sector Accounts.
